General Information

Nestled in the hills of Westmoreland County, spanning 77 square miles of rural land, sits the best-kept secret – Yough School District. With a student population of approximately 2,200, Yough School District is comprised of three elementary schools (K-4), one intermediate/middle school (5-8) and one high school (9-12).

The Yough School District services the areas of West Newton, Smithton, Sutersville, Madison, and Arona boroughs, as well as Sewickley and South Huntingdon Townships. From bedroom communities to housing developments, the Yough School District embraces a diverse socio-economic population.

The Yough School District is enthusiastic about the growing local industries, which is providing unlimited opportunities for our students and families to gain meaningful careers. Employment, coupled with local community and recreation organizations, allows individuals to be actively involved, while preserving hometown pride.
